ABOUT FISHER

I grew up in the West suburbs of Chicago, the youngest of five, and lived there until I was twenty-seven. I attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois where I majored in Communication and played four years of basketball. I also met my future wife, Abigail at MU. She played basketball too and won a National Championship with the women’s team.

After graduation, I worked for my father’s printing and promotional company working in sales and marketing for almost three years. In my last year there, I volunteered and coached basketball at my old high school where I fell in love with working with kids. I had explored the idea of teaching before, but it was then that I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. I parted ways with my dad’s company and began taking literature classes and focused on completing my teaching certificate and master's degree.

I traveled to several countries while I taught for three years in Illinois before my beautiful wife and I decided to travel abroad officially and teach in Costa Rica. For two years I was teaching IB Literature and IB Theory of Knowledge at an American International school there. What an amazing experience we had in Costa Rica! We travelled to all the pristine beaches. We made amazing, life-long friends. We improved in our ability to speak Spanish (my wife more so than I). We gained such great teaching experience. I had the opportunity to play professional basketball while I was there. And we got to take home the best souvenir in the entire world, our daughter Sanibelle Irene Fisher. She is a little Tica.

We have some family in the Denver area and we are so happy to be back in the states, growing our own family. January 25, 2015, we had our second daughter, Fionella Louise Fisher. And in 2018, we added another Colorado native, Antonello William Fisher. We look to plant some roots here in the CO and Vista is helping in that endeavor.

Me…  I love teaching and coaching. I love basketball. I love working out. I love competing. I love writing. I love reading. I love music. I love Spoken-Word Poetry. I love to watch it performed.  I love writing it and performing it myself.  Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/c/jasonwilliamfisher  I love all of my family. My wife, son and daughters are amazing! I love being able to work in a profession where I can occasionally make a difference and I hope I can do that this year. And if you made it this far, I love you too!

Thanks for reading. I’m sure I left out a lot, but I hope this helps you know who your teacher is this year.
